Graham Burton, our cricket coach visits each site on a 3-weekly rota.  Please contact Amy, Becky or Shirley to find out where and when he’s in.

This year Emily Shaw will be joining the team and learning all aspects of the job alongside our experienced staff members.

We welcome anyone who has a skill or interest that they would like to pass on to the children.  Come and join our sessions and share in the fun!

RECENT TRAINING EVENTS:

Managers have undertaken instruction in Common Assessment Framework and the Early Years Foundation Stage reform. All staff updated their First Aid and Safeguarding courses recently. Others successfully completed Food Safety, Manual Handling and Marketing courses.

At Funshine Club we continually strive to update current working practises and keep abreast of current legislation regarding playwork and childcare.

At present, next years training courses are under review by the local authority and may be subject to reduced funding in some areas.  However, we are confident that core courses will not be affected and we will continue to attend all those available.

Staff are experienced and qualified individuals who do their utmost to ensure that all of the children in their care are safe and happy.

Most have playwork and childcare qualifications and all are required to undertake regular training courses in Safeguarding Children, First Aid and Food Hygiene.  Management believe in the benefits of a fully trained workforce and encourage all members of staff in their professional development.

Prospective employees undergo rigorous interview procedures before commencing work and all are required to have an enhanced criminal records bureau check (CRB)

The Government have decided that the proposed VBS (Vetting and Barring Scheme) be shelved for the forseeable future. We will update you on this as and when we hear.

As part of our Safeguarding policy and in the wake of the Vanessa George scandal and other high profile cases, we have introduced new rules regarding mobile phones and social networking sites. This is to ensure that parents can be certain that management and staff are doing all that they can to safeguard the children in their care.
